On June 14, Caribbean Day at Lincoln Center opens with a family-friendly concert and workshop, featuring a steel pan drum performance that invites audiences of all ages to participate in making their own music! Dr. Josanne Francis and Zane Rodulfo share the history of steel pan instruments, originating from Trinidad and Tobago, and demonstrate how the drums are made and how to play them. At the same time, the Trinidad-based artist Steffano Marcano, founder of performing arts group the Next Level Devils, brings the tradition of blue devil masquerade culture and dance to life throughout this jubilant family event.
